Where is your office?
I do primarily online Telehealth sessions. For in-person clients, my office is in person in Santa Monica, or I can rent office space closer to you if needed. I also do walk and talk sessions, where I will meet you in your community (like a local park) to meet in person.
What are your hours?
My hours are flexible. I will work with you to find the best time for you. I work Monday-Saturday.
How long are your sessions?
My sessions run 53 minutes long.
How do I set up an appointment?
Please call 310-400-6175 and leave a message, email me at Sarah@sarahmirelestherapy.com, or message me through the form at the bottom of the page.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. Please let me know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule to avoid a late charge. I will charge my full fee for a late cancellation or missed session.
What age ranges do you work with?
I work with adults and adolescents 12 years and older.
Who do you work with?
I will work with women, men, adolescents, couples, families, and BIPOC, as well as LQBTQ populations.
What do you do in sessions with clients?
I will work with you to develop a treatment plan and get to work to achieve your goals, which can vary. These might include distress tolerance/stress reduction, exposure response prevention, improving focus/attention, improving relationships, or coaching you through a problem so that you feel more confident.
Do your clients receive assignments between sessions?
Absolutely. I will work with you to complete achievable homework assignments, whether exposure assignments or activities outside the session that will increase joy and overall functioning.
What modalities do you use?
I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention for OCD, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for individuals. I will use the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples.
What’s your professional training and experience?
My professional experience involves graduating with a master’s degree from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have worked and trained in college counseling, residential treatment programs, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment programs, as well as outpatient formats.
I have experience working with anxiety, work/life stress, depression, OCD, neurodivergence (ADHD and Autism), personality disorders, psychosis in recovery, BIPOC/LGBTQ populations, chronic illness, grief/loss, and life transitions. I also have a certification in life coaching.
What else must a client know to make the most out of working with you?
It’s important to me to form a trusting relationship. I want to meet you where you are. The more you can share and be vulnerable, the more you will get out of our session. I will not do the work for you, but I will challenge you and work with you to help make reaching your goals as easy as possible.
Dogs or Cats?
Both! I’ve had both a dog and a cat in my lifetime. I currently have two adorable dogs in my family: Layla and Cairo.
What brand of tissue do you use?
Puffs* Plus Lotion with Vicks. Those are the best and prevent nose chafing.
What do you do for fun?
I love being outdoors and hiking whenever I can. I also love to bake over the holidays. I make the best banana bread!
How do you unwind?
I’ll watch Gilmore Girls and eat popsicles. If that doesn’t work, I’ll use distress tolerance skills!
